Covington, May 21- Julius Loeb, one of the pioneers of this place died at 1 o’clock Sunday afternoon following a severe mental breakdown. He has been suffering from the illness for several months. Up until the past two weeks he never failed to make his usual daily trip to the business section of the city. Mr. Loeb was born in Germany in 1845. He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ratfel loeb. He left Hamburger, Germany in 1864 and lived in NY until 1866 when he went to Attica. He came from Attica to Covington in the same year. At Covington he worked for his brother, Laipe Loeb who conducted a dry goods business. Several years later Mr. Loeb went into the dry goods business for himself in the building at Third & Washington streets. He was in business here for about 50 years, retiring eight years ago in March, 1915. He was married to Nancy A. McManomy of Covington in 1871. No children were born to this union. Besides his widow he is survived by a brother who lives in NY and a nephew, Julius Loeb also of NY. Mr. Loeb was one of the oldest members of the IOOF Lodge of this city. --- kbz
